Dr Ali Daftari are well-respected surgeons in the dental profession due to their many years of teaching through their acumen, skill and knowledge.

The Role of Our Specialists

Specialist Dentistry
Specialist Periodontology is a field of dentistry that is associated with restoring the health of the foundational complex that holds teeth in place. Implantology is a field of dentistry that integrates all surgical procedures involved in the placement of various models of artificial teeth (usually made of titanium) within the bone after the loss of the original teeth.

Dr Ali Daftari initially qualified with a degree in Microbiology with biomedical sciences and subsequently went on to obtain a degree in Doctor of Medical Dentistry. He worked in general practice and later sat his MFDS examination. Dr Daftari later enrolled in a one-year multi-system implantology course which led him to pursue further studies in periodontology. In 2012, he commenced a three-year full-time specialist training program at Barts and The London in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. He attained his MClinDent in Periodontics in 2014 and an advanced diploma in periodontology in 2015. Dr Daftari has a special interest in the regeneration of tissues of the periodontium and carried out a proof of principle research study on regenerative materials. He is keen on treating the cosmetic aspect of gum issues, surgically correcting gummy smiles and gum recession.

Dr Betul Karagil is a highly accomplished dentist with special interest in Periodontology known for delivering refined, discreet care in advanced gum health and aesthetic periodontal treatments. Her approach combines clinical excellence with a deep understanding of smile aesthetics, creating results that are both healthy and beautifully natural.
Following her qualification from Istanbul University, Dr Karagil undertook an intensive four-year clinical and research programme in Periodontology, earning her PhD. Her work focused on advanced regenerative techniques using bone graft materials in the treatment of complex periodontal conditions. She further enhanced her expertise with a Master’s degree in Periodontology from University College London (UCL).
Dr Karagil offers a comprehensive range of specialist treatments, including the management of gum disease around teeth and implants, minimally invasive and advanced periodontal surgery, soft tissue grafting, crown lengthening, aesthetic gum contouring, and the treatment of peri-implant conditions. Her meticulous attention to detail and gentle, considered approach ensure a comfortable experience with exceptional outcomes. She also placed more than 500 implants of different brands gaining extensive knowledge on implant treaments.

Omar qualified in 2003 from the University of Glasgow, England winning the prize for conservative dentistry as an undergraduate. In 2005, he became a practice principal and subsequently a vocational trainer with the responsibility of training newly qualified dentists. He was awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2008.
Whilst working in general practice, he undertook advanced training in restorative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute, completing the Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice. On completion of four years of specialist training in periodontics, he was awarded a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry from King’s College London and Membership in Periodontics from Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He previously worked at Guy’s Hospital, London at a consultant level and undertakes all aspects of periodontal therapy including surgical, non-surgical, muco-gingival, crown lengthening and implant therapy. As well as providing periodontal care at the practice, he has a special interest in the association between periodontal disease and diabetes. In 2015, he received the Ron F. Wilson award from King’s College London for clinical research and has presented his research internationally.
For a number of years, he has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, examining the Licence in Dental Surgery, the oldest continuously existing dental qualification in the United Kingdom.
